SYNOPSIS
She prayed fervently, "If this thought is madness, God! Give us all the courage to be mad."A woman has forsaken her husband and children; she continues to fight for her country’s freedom. A woman has kept her stillborn baby in her workplace locker; she is trying to make sense of her predicament. Accusation. Judgment. Estrangement. She - a wife, mother, animal and politician - is a prisoner of her own conscience. Is she a victim or a criminal? Is she selfish or selfless?
Inspired by two real-life stories, A Madwoman’s Diary is an intimate and gritty two-woman play (performed by Li Xie and Goh Guat Kian) which offers a visceral insight into the complex psyche and heart-rending inner strength of extraordinary individuals when stranded in domestically intricate and socio-politically charged situations of choice, but never letting go of hope.
