Playwriting

　　上星期六上了3个小时的Playwriting Workshop，主要是学学如何进行基本的剧本创作。虽然是短短的三个小时，不过也从中学到了一点东西。

　　当天，主讲人还要求我们当下创作一场短剧。我就在没有太多的思考的情况下创作了这场未完成的戏。这还是我第一次以英语创作剧本，所以，千万不要以专业的眼光来判断这个“剧本”的好坏（无论是语言、布局、情节、创意等等），因为连我也觉得自己写得不知所谓。



Characters: Sarah, 30
Niki, 35

Scene: Sarah and Niki were having high tea at Raffles Hotel. Niki was showing off her new Gucci handbag.

Niki: Sarah, you know something? You should love yourself more.

Sarah: (Speechless)

Niki: You understand what I mean?

Sarah: I know, but......you know my situation, don't you?

Niki: (Putting down her Gicch handbag) Yes! I have known it for donkey years. Since it has been donkey years, then why can't you let go?

Sarah: Its easier said than done. What would you do if you were me?

Niki: I will......I will......I......(dumb for words)

Sarah: Yes? You will......

Niki: Let......go. Yes, I will let go! Sarah, you know, we only live once.Once! You know how long this Once could be? It could be 80 years, 50 years, 30 years. It isn't that long you know. You are 30 now, who knows, you may be left with only 20 years.

Sarah: Yes, I may be left with 10 years, but what about her? She may only left with only 5 years, or even 3 years. I ......just can't go.

Niki: All these years, you told me all your dreams. Overseas study, travelling, getting married, having kids......Have you done any of these?

Sarah: (Shaking her head)

Niki: N-O-N-E. None! Is this what you want for your life? Sarah, you have been working hard all these years. For her alone. Its time for you to think of yourself. Like me!

Sarah: (Pause for a while) Niki, you know what? I have always envy you.

Niki: Envy me? Haha, you mean you envy my condo, my Gucci bags, my BMW?

Sarah: I really envy you. Envy your courage. I don't have your courage. To let go everything.

Niki: (Pause for a while) Sarah，sometimes, its not a matter of courage, to let go everything. Things that are close to your heart. Its not courage. Its......

Sarah: Its......

Niki: ......
